SUMMER DAY CAMPS

 

2010 Schedule

These general recreation day camps provide  opportunities to
participate in a variety of structured leisure activities including
sports, arts and crafts, quiet and active games, field trips, wet n'
wild days, movies and special events.  Additional fees may be
charged for certain off-site activities or field trips.
 
Sign your kids up for a summer filled with fun at the Grand Bend Youth Centre's "Summer Day Camps".
The camp runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am* until 4:00 pm*.
       *There is no need to worry if you need to drop your camper off early or pick them up later - we offer extended care options. See "Policies and Pricing" for further information.
 

All programs require pre-registration by phone, email or in person!
Why Register?
Registering early for your programs allows us to provide adequate staffing, snacks and supplies, ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. In addition, bus trips and special events are not feasible unless we meet our minimum registration requirements. So, register TODAY!

 July 6th - 8th
It's time to welcome the start of summer back at the Youth Centre! We'll spend the week exploring all that's offered at camp! Enjoying the skateboard park, basketball court and various water activities including our inflatable water slide! We'll picnic outside and start our summer vacation!
 July 13th- 15th      
On Tuesday, we'll take our camp on the road and head to the beach. We'll enjoy the playground and splashpad at Main Beach and have a sand castle competition. Wednesday is our 1950's Sock Hop Party! Learn the Hand Jive, the Twist and other fun dances. Dress up and maybe you'll take home a prize! Then we're off to Storybook Gardens on Thursday.
 July 20th - July 22nd        & 
It's the big week leading up to our trip to the Ontario Science Centre on Thursday! On Tuesday, we're becoming Mythbusters and conducting experiments to test urban legends. Does toast ALWAYS land butter side down? Can you put a pin through a balloon without popping it? Plus many more super cool experiments! It's Magic & Mystery Day Wednesday so bring your best tricks and be ready to learn some new ones!
 July 27th - July 29th        & 
Outwit, outplay, outlast - compete in our version of Survivor on Tuesday. We'll have two teams completing various challenges throughout the day followed by tribal council. We're "Camping Out" Wednesday and spending the day completely outside! We'll set up tents, play some camp games and enjoy s'mores! On Thursday we're headed to the J Dude Ranch for horseback riding, a trail ride and swimming!
 August 3rd - 5th        &  Wally World

 

On Tuesday we're having a Mexican Fiesta! Special snacks, a piňata, limbo and Mexican kickball will fill our day! It's Wet & Wild Day Wednesday! We'll head to the splash pad in the morning and play on our waterslide in the afternoon! Wednesday is all about the water games! We're off to Wally World at East Park Golf Gardens Thursday! (check out the link above - awesome!)  Time for some water slides!
 August 10th - 12th               GO! GO!
This week at the youth centre will involve a variety of sports in anticipation for the week's highlight: a trip to a Blue Jays Game! We'll also spend time working on our banner to compete in the Camp Banner Contest at the big game. We'll take advantage of all that's offered at the Youth Centre by skateboarding, playing baseball at the diamond and basketball on our great court! A trip to the batting cages is also in store for Wednesday!
 August 17th - 19th       & 

 We're having a Tropical Luau on Tuesday! Best dressed wins a prize! We'll play pineapple bowling and learn some hula dancing. Celebrate the end of a successful summer with us at our year-end Carnival on Wednesday! Play lots of fun carnival games - and best of all, everyone takes home a goody bag! Then on Thursday, cap off the summer with our annual trip to Canada's Wonderland!

 
 

POLICIES & PRICING

General Information -
  • Participants must provide their own transportation (except for bus trips).
  • Campers must be signed in and out by authorized individuals.
  • Campers must bring their own lunches; limited refrigeration space is available.
  • Camp participants do not have to attend off-site field trips.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required in order to participate in sports and recreational activities.
  • All trips will be cancelled unless the minimum number of seats have been filled.
  • Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Campers should bring a bathing suit, towel and sunscreen everyday.
 Fee Structure:
  • Regular camp days - $20 per camper/day. (3rd, 4th... children at ½ price)
  • Day trips are priced separately. (below)
  • Late Pickup Fee Policy: A late fee of $2 per camper for every fifteen minutes late will be assessed for campers who are not picked up by the program's scheduled closing time. We recognize that emergencies arise and request that parents/guardians call the Youth Centre if they are delayed for any reason.
  • Extended Care Options: We have befor-care options (8-9 am) and after-care options (4-5 pm) to accomodate family schedules. Supervised, non-structured playtime befor and after camp hours is available at a rate of $4. per hour per child. (3rd, 4th.... children are half price)

ROAD TRIPS

Road trips MUST be paid for in advance to ensure your spot. Trips will be cancelled unless the minimum number of seats has been met. So, invite your friends and join us on our fun adventures.

 Storybook Gardens

We'll Travel to London to explore Storybook Gardens! Check out the splash pad, the different animal habitats and tour through Old McDonalds farm!

 Ontario Science Centre

This year we're extremely excited to be visiting the Ontario Science Centre. Not only will we be seeing an IMAX film, we will also be magically enchanted by this year's interactive exhibition - Harry Potter! It's a chance to try on the sorting hat, play a game of Quidditch and go behind the scenes of this world-wide phenomenon.

 Blue Jays Game

Join us for the Youth Centre's first-ever trip to the Rogers Centre and watch the Jays take on the Red Sox. We've got 100-level seating for camp day with the Blue Jays so that we can get up-close and personal. For this special event campers will prepare a banner for a chance to win a prize, and may also have the opportunity to run the bases like the pros!

 Canada's Wonderland

This continues to be our most popular day trip. Whether you prefer wild roller coasters, leisurely rides on the carousel, or keeping cool in the water park, Canada's Wonderland has it all! Maybe you'll be brave enough to tackle the BEHEMOTH!
